For over 18 years, Kiddleydivey has been helping the elderly - supporting their continued mobility; their social interaction; their connection with memory; and their quality of life, through the use of programs of music, songs and activity specially devised by the founder of Kiddleydivey
Sally Murphy, a Music Therapist.
Come along to a Kiddleydivey session and you’ll quickly see that this is much more than just a ‘musical experience’. Singing, moving to the music, recognising photographs of stars from a bygone era, playing the percussion instruments and using props such as pompoms, scarves, hats and hoops, mean that the residents engage, interact and socialise, even when their communication is very limited.
I have always had a love of music but two things coming together made a career change to Kiddleydivey possible.
Firstly at the age of 82 my Dad was diagnosed with vascular dementia and the realisation that although he may not remember things on a daily basis he still had the ability to sing and remember all the words from all his favourite Frank Sinatra tunes and songs from the past . This got me thinking there is something in music that stands the test of time and re energises and unlocks memory in our ageing brains. Now at 84 he is living well with dementia and can still rock a tune out.
The second was a chance to take voluntary redundancy from my role of 23 years as a Mentor in a large all girls High school. Although I had loved working with Teenagers I felt I needed a change away from the 'Selfie' to the 'selfless' generation .
I thoroughly enjoy my life now as a 'Kiddleydiva'. It fits perfectly around my role as mum to three grown up sons and Nanna to our five beautiful grandchildren. My husband Tom says its like living with 'Mary Poppins' as I'm always singing. I believe its never too late to change your direction in life and do something that makes you happy that in turn enhances the lives of others. I have seen first hand how my Kiddleydivey sessions have made so many people feel good through the power of music.
Here are what others are saying about Kiddleydivey Merseyside:
"Nicky interacts with all our residents and they really enjoy her twice weekly visits. She provides a range of props and wonderful music, there is always something to meet each person's needs. The residents all enjoy their mornings with Nicky and will talk about their Kiddleydivey session to their families with nothing but a smile on their faces. We all look forward to her visits."

"We booked Nicky for my Mother's 95th birthday after seeing one of her taster sessions at mum's care home. My Mother doesn't really care about presents these days but she loves music and this went down really well. She sang along and even got up to dance at one point. Nickys' session was very much enjoyed by the other residents too, so a good time was had by all"
NP son of resident at Geel and Hitchen Care Home
